We designed our studio with the idea in mind that beautiful spaces stimulate beautiful ideas. Our space is organized, clean, and safe.
Welcome to our space to create
Wee Create Studio was created in the fall of 2017. This studio space, located in the Prairie Village area, was established to give small children and their families an inspiring place for artistic exploration. Our studio is bright, colorful and welcoming. This is the perfect place for kids to explore and get messy.
Having this special art space for kids relieves stress from parents about having paint splattered all over the walls of the home, or marker on the furniture, and allows children the free will to experiment in many different ways!
Monet Studio
We are lucky enough to have two studio spaces at Wee Create. This is our main level studio space. We can host events with up to 24 kids in this space.
Matisse Studio
This is our lower level studio which is so sweet and great for all ages and events. This space is quaint and perfect for parties with up to 15 kids.
Who and why
Amy Major is the owner and creative director at Wee Create Studio. She is the mother of two children, 13 and 10, and is active in their school communities.
While participating in many “parent and me” classes when her kids were young, she noticed a void in classes for artistic exploration. As an artist herself, she began envisioning a space where children and their families could come to create. A space to get messy, have fun, and explore! This desire lead to the creation of Wee Create Studio, which she opened in 2017.
About Amy
Amy received her Bachelors in Art Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia and her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from UMKC. A native of the Kansas City Area, she taught elementary art for eight years before becoming a mother, and is a practicing ceramic artist.
She is passionate about working with children and has always been enthused by their uninhibited drive to create. Her mission through Wee Create is to encourage and facilitate this artistic exploration.

Allison
I’m from Grandview, Missouri and currently attend Avila University for my BA in Art with a concentration in Art Therapy. I love taking care of my pets, going to concerts, and of course making art - whether it’s photography, ceramics, drawing, or painting! I’m most excited for our My Masterpiece camp for summer 2024, but I also loved our winter class session. The artist that inspires me most is Vivian Maier who is a self portrait photographer. She uses a lot of reflections in her images and each one tells a unique story.
Kayla
Hi, I’m Kayla! I’ve lived in Kansas City my entire life and it still amazes me how much I have yet to see. After work, you’ll find me hanging with my kids, 16 and 8, either on a park bench or trail during the day and gazing up at night. We joined the Astronomical Society of Kansas City last year and have been enjoying the perks when we can. When I’m not outdoors, I’m playing Mario Kart or listening to a podcast. I have a passion for the environment and someday hope to make a larger impact to the overconsumption humans partake in. As a busy body, I’m always looking for new things to do and beautiful places to explore.
This year at Wee Create, I’m most looking forward to our Space Camp. I can’t wait to see what the preschoolers imagine space to look like. When I lead a class, I show different techniques but then allow each student to be the leader of their art. It’s so inspiring to guide a child through their big ideas and watch them create something they take pride in.
The artist I’m most inspired by is Kathleen Ryan, a sculpture artist in LA that creates “moldy” fruit with beautiful bead work.
